Award categories and criteria

The LaingBuisson Awards recognise and celebrate industry excellence and innovative services in the public, private and third sectors.

Leaders from across the sector come together to hear and celebrate each other’s successes. Already a fixed point in the calendar, the LaingBuisson Awards will be even bigger in 2019 as they provide further evidence of the growth and success of UK health and care services.

Residential Care - Larger Organisation >1000 beds
Excellence in residential or nursing care for older people, with a focus on innovation and engagement with service users within a larger organisation

Residential Care - Smaller Organisation <1000 beds
Excellence in residential or nursing care for older people, with a focus on innovation and engagement with service users within a smaller organisation

Specialist Care
Providers of specialist care for adults with physical or learning disabilities or mental health problems in a residential setting.

Supported Living
Excellence in looking after adults with physical or learning disabilities or mental health problems in a supported living setting.

Homecare
Excellence in the provision of personal care or healthcare in a home setting with a focus on innovation and/or higher acuity services.

Housing with Care
Excellence in the provision and development of Retirement Villages or Extra Care.

Children's Services
Excellence in the delivery of children’s services in any setting (fostering, residential, school)

Clinical Services

Private Hospital (Acute and Mental)
Excellence in the provision of acute or mental health services with a focus on innovation and differentiation as a result of an individual hospital initiative or investment.

Private Hospital Group (Acute and Mental)
Excellence, as a group, in the provision of acute or mental health services with a focus on innovation and differentiation as a result of a group initiative or investment.

Primary Care & Diagnostics
Excellence in the delivery of healthcare services in the primary care setting including GP practices, diagnostics, integration with acute care (Integrated Care Systems) and disease management.

Healthcare Outcomes
Excellence in the delivery of better healthcare outcomes with a focus on ability to demonstrate those outcomes.

Nursing Practice
Excellence in the delivery of nursing services with a focus on innovation, patient management and engagement in the acute or mental health hospital setting across both the NHS and Independent Hospital providers.

Rehabilitation
Excellence in the provision of post operative rehabilitation services in any setting.

Innovators & Leaders

Public Private Partnership
Excellence in a strategic partnership between the public and independent sectors with a focus on outcomes, value for money and innovation.

Management Excellence
Excellence in the management of a company which has delivered exceptional clinical or patient outcomes, financial results or employee engagement.

Innovation in Care
Innovation in the delivery of care in any setting.

Innovation in Technology
Innovation in technology in any setting, in the delivery of care as a service or clinical procedure.

Excellence in Training
Innovation in the delivery of training to healthcare and/or social care professionals.

Rising Star
A rising star in the world of healthcare and/or social care.

Outstanding Contribution
(Nominations are not open for this category. The recipient of this award is identified and chosen by LaingBuisson)

Investor
Excellence as an investor across either equity or debt, demonstrating a successful investment strategy and high returns.

Lender
Excellence in lending to the sector demonstrating good market knowledge, innovation and a distinctive/successful strategy or execution.

Financial Advisor
Excellence in the provision of corporate finance advice with a focus on successful transactions you have advised on.

Property

Property Consultant
Excellence in advising on valuation, consulting, acquisition, sale and financing of healthcare property assets.

Property Investor
Track record of property investment across healthcare.

Property Developer
Track record of site development in health or social care.

Advisors

Management Consultant
Excellence in the provision of strategic or commercial advice on a transaction or as a retained advisor with a focus on relevant case studies.

Recruiter
Excellence in the recruitment of professionals in the healthcare and social care sectors

Legal Advisor - Public
Excellence in the provision of legal services to the NHS, local authorities, regulators and other public sector organisations with a focus on relevant transactions, clients or matters (such as CMA investigations).

Legal Advisor - Independent
Excellence in the provision of legal services to the independent sector (both for profit and not for profit) with a focus on relevant transactions, clients or matters (such as CMA investigations).

  • LaingBuisson will choose one winner of each award based on the merits of the submissions. Finalists are judged by an independent judging panel.
  • All submissions are confidential.
  • All submissions must be fully completed - partially completed nomination forms will not be accepted.
  • Only online submissions will be accepted.
  • We cannot accept any supporting materials.
  • Please avoid using abbreviations.
  • Any company or person is eligible to nominate, including self-nominations.
  • Any company operating or person working in the UK is eligible to win an award.
  • Nominations are not publicly open for the Outstanding Contribution Award in the Innovators and Leaders category. The winner will be selected by LaingBuisson and announced at the Awards event.
  • The Awards are free to enter.

The judging panel reserves the right to move entries from one category to another if they feel it is more appropriate. Please ensure that all information in submissions is accurate at the time of entry. LaingBuisson will not be held responsible for the publication of any information contained on the entry forms which is inaccurate.
